Northmead charity, TADNSW (Technical Aid to the Disabled) hosted a group of international visitors recently when 22 Japanese college students came for a tour.
The physiotherapy and occupational therapy students from the Fukuoka Rehabilitation College Japan visited TAD as part of a week long Australian visit to tour various health care and rehabilitation organisations.
The yearly overseas tour is part of their study program in Japan.
The students were introduced to TAD’s variety of services for people with a disability, including the FREEDOM WHEELS Modified Bike Service, which customises bikes for children with disabilities.
The students got to explore and play with a range of different customised aids that TAD have made for people with disabilities.
“We are always happy to share the work we do at TAD and we’re thrilled to be able to share it internationally,” said TAD CEO Joy Barrett.
TAD recently relocated to Northmead after more than 30 years in Ryde. The charity is supported by a dedicated and diverse volunteer network, who build and modify aids in their home workshops. Costs are kept to a minimum as clients only pay for materials and a small administration fee. |
