TADNSW holds regular bike assessment clinics in Sydney and in major population centres in New South Wales. Please refer to the schedule of clinics for locations and dates of proposed clinics.
The bikes supplied through Freedom Wheels are suitable for most children with a disability who are unable to ride a standard bike. We will endeavour to design suitable modifications that will provide a safe riding environment, but in a small number of cases this may not be possible. We will advise you accordingly.
To register your interest in a clinic, please download and fill in the application form and we shall contact you to finalise.
Please read the following before completing your application form.
Here is some essential information that will assist you when filling in the application
form. Once the form is returned to TAD, a therapist may contact you to discuss your childs’ medical
history with you, and then an appointment will be booked at the next available Freedom Wheels
If you are booked into a clinic, the process should take under an hour. The therapist undertakes a brief assessment of sitting balance +/- mobility as appropriate, inner leg and other measurements are checked. Modifications are trialled and the client will test-ride the assessment bike under supervision +/- support as required. When a decision is made for the most suitable modifications, individual specifications are recorded. A quote is provided and once approved and returned to
TAD, bike assembly is able to be commenced.
Provide legible bike applications forms to assist TAD
Bring AFO's, AKO's (ankle/foot/knee orthoses), and walking aids to the clinic if applicable
