Technical Aid to the Disabled started in June 1973 when George Winston AM and a core group of eight engineers volunteered their technical skills to assist people with disabilities.
Over 300 volunteers in 18 branches, interest and metro groups are supported by 23 full and part time staff based at the Royal Rehabilitation Centre in Sydney. Similar organisations have also been established in the other states.
