Each year at this time I reflect on the
privilege of being part of the TADNSW
team. TADNSW is a small organisation
and the significant support that we
provide to children and adults with
disabilities and their families is only
possible through teamwork.
Our Board, staff, members, volunteers
and donors work together to get the
job done, providing practical solutions
to meet the needs of our clients. In
particular I wish to acknowledge the
very significant work of Alan McGregor,
our Director of Services.
Highlights resulting from this teamwork
in 2008-09 include:
Full utilisation of the workshops and
warehouses at TADHouse
Sustained levels of service in Custom Designed Aids (in Sydney and across
the network of branches and interest
groups in regional NSW).
Continued growth of the FREEDOM
WHEELS® Modified Bike Service.
Client-focused changes to the Computer Support Service.
High levels of media publicity for our
services.
Along with many other charities, we
have experienced funding losses
resulting from the current economic
crisis. We are fortunate that the TAD
Foundation has been in a position
to increase their level of operational
support for our activities, resulting in a
small financial surplus of $24,972.
Early in 2009, the Foundation
benefitted from a generous legacy
from a member of TADNSW. This has
enabled the Foundation to increase
their level of operational support
this year, replacing funding shortfalls
resulting from the economic crisis.
Nonetheless, increasing income will be a major goal for 2009-10, to ensure
that we do not damage the ability
of the Foundation to meet its long
term purpose. Our capacity to deliver
services to children and adults with
disabilities depends on the continued
development of a strong and financially
viable organisation.
